MCAD Sit. Sleep. Live. Design Contest at Room and Board

If you were presented with a challenge to create an innovative new design for a sleeper sofa, what would it look like?  This question was posed to the furniture design department at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.  For the past 8 years, Room and Board has partnered with MCAD to host a contest to see what original designs the students create.  The 5 finalists for this year’s Sit. Live contest are on display at Edina’s Room and Board store now through May 2nd.  Stop in anytime during store hours to check out the finalists’ ideas and vote on which you think deserves to win.

On Thursday, May 13th, from 6-8pm Room and Board’s Edina store is hosting a party to celebrate the designers and to announce the contest winner.  The winner gets a $1,500 scholarship and a chance to have their design added to the Room and Board product line.  Come out and groove to the disco beats of local DJ Gigamesh while enjoying light refreshments and meet the young designers.  The event is free to the public.
