A recent favorite find are these beautiful prints of Minneapolis and St. Paul by Kim Sly of Albie Design. I love the the use of a mostly neural color palette mixed in with a few splashes of color! They are available for purchase in 3 different sizes. To view and buy these and other prints from Albie Design, head over to her Etsy shop!

I love beautiful, locally designed furniture. Nothing makes me more proud to call Minnesota my home state than when I see the graceful curves of a beautiful chair from Rapson Inc or the bright colors of Blu Dot’s Strut Table.
This must be my month because both local companies are hosting sales!

Now if only I can get someone to get me this desk as an early Christmas gift! Isn’t it lovely?
The other evening I was reading my favorite eye-candy Australian blog, Desire to Inspire. Then I saw this photo appear:
Photo from Apartment Therapy
I had to stop myself and think, “What is a Minneapolis poster doing on an Australian blog?” It turns out the stylistas over at Desire to Inspire are rooting for our hometown gal, Janelle of Bloomington, to win Apartment Therapy’s Room for Color 2012 contest! Judging by the beautiful use of green, white, grey, and blue tones, Janelle has a great eye for color and design. Head over to Desire to Inspire to see all of the photos from Janelle’s Bloomington home, then go to Apartment Therapy and click “Favorite” to vote for her place! Way to go Janelle!
Have you had the chance to stop by Motto Boutique in Minneapolis’ Uptown neighborhood? As you might know, I’m a sucker for mid-century architecture. Are you? If so, please join me this weekend for Docomomo US/MN’s modern homes tour. As a full disclosure, I am on the board of directors for this nonprofit, whose mission is to document and conserve buildings and sites of the modern movement.
The tour is this Saturday, October 6th and includes a morning tour of homes designed by architect, Robert Cerny and an afternoon tour of homes on Cedar Lake. The best part is that not only do you get to admire the outside architecture, but you actually get to go inside the homes and appreciate the interiors. The above photograph is a sample of all of the homes on this year’s tour. To learn more information on how to purchase tickets, visit www.docomomo-us-mn.org.
I love this movie that the crew at findfurnish put together! Sway with a little Sinatra and get familiar with the vintage modern furniture in the video. You may remember the post from last year where we got to know the store a bit better. I can’t believe it has nearly been one year since their store opening! Congratulations! Stop by this weekend and see what you can find, or just say hi to lovely owners, Marie and Brian.
Open today 2-7, Saturday 10-7 and Sunday 10-7 at their store in the Casket Arts Building. 1720 Madison Street NE, #10, Minneapolis Minnesota, 55413
In the unassuming Edina strip mall, Rue de France (my winner for fanciest strip mall name), resides the new home furnishings store, Andrew Martin. Hailing from England, the company was founded in 1978 and has grown to be an internationally recognized brand. Andrew Martin’s main aesthetic is fusion style, mixing pieces influenced by cultures around the work with antiques with a bit of a retro vibe. The result is a beautifully staged store which makes you feel like you have stepped into a vintage James Bond movie. The store also sells beautiful fabrics and wallpapers. Click after the jump to view more photos from the Edina store, located at 7101 France Ave S. Edina, MN.If you are on Twitter, their handle is @AndrewMartinMN. Check back for an update on their grand opening party slated for October.
