Sustainable design is not a fad, but a necessity in interior design and architecture. As more individuals become educated about the environmental and cost benefit of going green, the more they demand it in remodeling and new construction. To help consumers, builders, designers and architects become more knowledgeable about eco-design, the first Greenprint expo is being held in the Twin Cities.

Greenprint, occurring on April 20, 2011, is an expo featuring 18+ networking and learning opportunities, round table discussions, CEU presentations, a cocktail reception and a keynote speaker. Being held at the Como Park Conservatory, Greenprint will be a guide towards education from the design perspective. Registration is coming up on January 31, 2011. Weekend Design Event Round Up

It is crazy the amount of events and sales going on this weekend. I will touch on a few going on over the weekend. It is up to you to create your own lightning fast contraption to transport you to as many of these events as you can!

The first event is Ladies Night at Moss Envy, tonight, November 5th from 4-9pm. Eco-darlings and owners Tina & Ryan North, are offering up an evening full of fun with pampering from Salon Intrigue, wine, prizes, shopping, pizza, networking, and mini-workshops.

ASID Sample Sale at IMS

Thursday Nov 4- 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Friday Nov 5- 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Saturday Nov 6-9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Are you looking to get your home furnished with some really nice furnishings? Then head over to International Market Square in Minneapolis. This is the time that the showrooms clean out their floor samples. Bring floor plans to make sure everything fits!

Art Attack! at the Northrup King Building

Friday, November 5, 2010: 5-10 p.m.
Saturday, November 6, 2010: Noon-8 p.m.
Sunday, November 7, 2010: Noon-5 p.m.

This is such a fun event. All the artists open their studios at the Northrup King Building in NE Minneapolis for you to tour. Artists from all types of backgrounds, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking and letterpress printing, mixed media, clay, metal, glass, fine furniture, textiles, fiber arts, and jewelry will be on hand to explain how they create their works.

Midwest Home’s Luxury Home Tour

We are going into the 2nd weekend of Midwest Home’s Luxury Home tour. Going on its 10th year, this tour showcases 15 newly built multimillion dollar homes. Special events occur throughout the duration of the month-long tour, including wine & cheese tastings on Fridays, BBQ s on Saturdays, and a Twilight tour on the evening of Saturday the 19th. The remaining weekends on the tour are this June 18-20 and next weekend, June 25-27. You may pick up tickets at your local participating Caribou Coffee. Victory’s Pre-Sale on Thursday

Victory, the lovely store at 3505 W 44th St in Minneapolis, is hosting a pre-party this Thursday evening to their annual sidewalk sale this weekend. Don your summer dresses and linen slacks and come out to the Isle of Capri-themed party. Limoncello & Pizza Fritta Caprese will be served while listening to the tunes of Bobby Solo. Everything will be on sale!

If you can’t make it to the party, come out for the sidewalk sale this weekend on Friday the 18th & Saturday the 19th from 11-6.

There are just a couple more weeks left to purchase tickets and view the ASID duo homes on the home tour! The event ends on June 13th. On Sunday, June 6th, a special tour occurs where the first 100 guests will get a sack lunch from Byerly’s and Lunds from 12-2pm and are invited to have lunch on the lake.
